Biography

Dr Erum Zarief Monis is a public health professional, quality assurance leader, public speaker, and humanitarian advocate whose career spans public health, higher education, institutional leadership, and community development. With over 20 years of professional experience, she has worked to strengthen health programmes, improve institutional quality, and expand opportunities for underserved communities.

Her public health experience includes malaria control, maternal and child health, family planning, sexual and reproductive health, and post-abortion care. Through her work with Save the Children and the Global Fund-supported Malaria Programme at Indus Hospital & Health Network, she has contributed to health programme implementation, government partnerships, and health systems strengthening across Pakistan.

At the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), she played a key leadership role in strengthening institutional quality assurance, academic standards, accreditation readiness, and alignment with national and international benchmarks. She is also an experienced trainer and public speaker who conducts awareness and capacity-building sessions on protection against sexual harassment at the workplace, promoting safe, respectful, and inclusive working environments.

Her humanitarian work includes supporting Afghan refugees through youth skills development and sustainability initiatives. She helped facilitate the repatriation of more than 100 students equipped with allied health sciences skills, helping create pathways to livelihoods and future opportunities.

An ISO 9001:2015 Certified Lead Auditor, researcher, and experienced trainer, Dr Monis believes in the power of education, dignity, inclusion, and community empowerment. Poetry and singing are among her creative interests, reflecting her appreciation for expression, culture, and human connection.
