Biography
Irum Mumtaz Educationist, Humanitarian, and Founder of IDEAS & Bazeecha Welfare Foundation
Irum Mumtaz is a distinguished educationist and humanitarian with over three decades of teaching experience, spanning Montessori to university level. She is the founder of IDEAS Institute of Dyslexia Education and Attitudinal Studies, the first institute of its kind in Northern Pakistan, dedicated to supporting children with dyslexia and other learning differences. Under her leadership, Team IDEAS played a pivotal role in advocating for the Dyslexia Special Measures Bill, which was passed by the Senate and National Assembly and became law. Recognising the scarcity of specialised learning resources, she spearheaded the development of the IDEAS Inclusive Programme and introduced a Diploma in Remedial Therapy, addressing a significant gap in professional training.
Following the devastating 2005 earthquake, she founded Bazeecha Welfare Foundation to provide earthquake-affected females with a safe haven, quality education, vocational skills, and opportunities for independence. For two decades, her humanitarian work has championed human rights, gender equality, climate action, and vulnerable communities across Pakistan.
An accomplished sportswoman, she has won national silver medals in rifle shooting and sailing. With international exposure, professional training, and numerous awards to her credit, she firmly believes that education must empower individuals with practical skills. Her guiding motto is “Each One Teach One” and a lifelong commitment to serving humanity.
